Councilwoman Jen Giattino
Dear Editor,
There is a lot at stake in the upcoming 1st Ward runoff election and Paul Presinzano is the right choice to represent his neighbors on the Hoboken City Council. Paul came out of the three-way race last week as the leading candidate when he narrowly missed the needed 50% plus one, prompting this runoff scheduled for December 5th.
Casting a vote for Paul not only gives residents a strong advocate, but it also keeps the necessary checks and balances in our local government. It prevents Mayor Bhalla from securing an automatic 5th and deciding vote on the City Council on issues that matter to the 1st Ward, and across Hoboken. There have been far too many issues and votes this past year that have left residents scratching their heads, wondering what motivates Mayor Bhalla and his council majority’s decisions on issues like the rat crisis, streateries, recreation management, spending, development, cannabis dispensaries, and flood mitigation, to name a few.
A vote for Paul Presinzano will promote and ensure honest debate and much needed transparency and accountability. It will curtail the Bhalla administration’s power, which is currently unopposed, and is a vote for an open, responsive, and transparent local government.
Paul’s experience, responsiveness, and willingness to go the extra mile set him apart. He has a deep understanding of the issues that matter in the 1st Ward. He has proven time and again that he is a tireless advocate who fights for his neighbors, ensuring their concerns are not ignored. They will never have to question why he voted in a particular way, because he is committed to doing the right thing for Hoboken, and he will take the time to explain himself.
Spend time with Paul and it’s clear within minutes that he is deeply committed to the 1st Ward. He proactively seeks out issues and works to solve them, demonstrating genuine concern for the community. He has provided scholarships to Hoboken High graduates, purchased water bags and filled them for seniors when we experienced two days without water due to a water main break. He volunteers at the Multi-Service center for senior programming, and actively donates time and resources to the Hoboken Shelter.
Paul is not just talk; he is quick to act. His willingness to listen, consider different perspectives, and adapt his approach showcases his collaborative and open-minded leadership style. The 1st Ward and Hoboken need Paul Presinzano, a dedicated, diligent, and determined representative on our Council, fighting for Hoboken every day, as an independent and trustworthy advocate. I proudly endorse Paul and look forward to working with him in January.
To the residents of the 1st Ward, please vote Column A for Paul Presinzano in this runoff election on December 5th. In what we expect to be a low turnout runoff election, your vote and your voice will never matter more.
Warm regards,
Jen GIattino
